Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake is the
second closest to Phoenix of the four Salt River reservoirs, and is
only 16 miles east of Apache Junction. It has two boat launch
ramps and three no-fee picnic areas with tables, grills, and
restrooms on the south shore of the lake. The Acacia Picnic
Site has a sandy beach designated for swimming. Fishing on
Canyon Lake can produce walleye, largemouth bass, yellow bass,
rainbow trout, bluegill, channel catfish, and crappie.

is paved and has plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers.

There are two public campgrounds at
Canyon Lake. The Point Campground is very secluded, but it has
only three camp sites and is accessible only by boat, three miles up
the north arm of the lake. It is open all year and has no fee
for camping there. The Tortilla Campground is located at the
east end of the lake and is accessible by road, about two miles past
the marina, just before you get to Tortilla Flat. It has 77
camp sites with water and sewer hook-ups, but it is only open from
October through April and there is a fee for using it.
The Point Campground is accessible only
by boat, three miles up the north arm of the lake.
